Chrome Extension
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-15
ZONN.ai ("we", "our", "us") operates the ZONN — AI Image DetectorChrome extension (the "Extension"). This policy explains exactly what data the Extension collects, where it goes, and how you control it.
We collect the minimum data needed to run an AI-image detection on content you explicitly submit. The Extension does not track your browsing activity and does not sell, share, or advertise based on any of your data.
For the platform-level policy covering the rest of zonn.ai, see the main Privacy Policy.
1. What the Extension does
The Extension lets you submit images (uploaded directly or referenced by URL) to the ZONN.ai detection service. It then shows you a Zonn Score and breakdown of detector signals returned by the service.
Every analysis is started by your explicit action — either submitting in the popup or invoking the right-click context menu on an image or link. The Extension performs no background scanning.
2. Data the Extension processes
| Data | Why it's processed | Sent to ZONN.ai | Stored locally |
|---|---|---|---|
| Image bytes (data URL) when you scan an image | Required to run AI detection on the image | Yes, over HTTPS to zonn.ai | Cached in chrome.storage.local to power the Reports tab |
| URL you paste when scanning a link | So the backend can fetch the page's image content | Yes, over HTTPS | Cached locally |
| Zonn Score, label, signal breakdown | To render the result UI and your history | Returned to the Extension | Cached locally |
| ZONN.ai session token (cookie) | To authenticate API requests | Sent only to *.zonn.ai | Managed by the browser as a normal site cookie; the Extension never logs or transmits it elsewhere |
| User preferences (theme, notifications, result display) | To render the Extension to your taste | Not sent off-device | chrome.storage.local |
| Analysis history (up to 50 recent scans) | To populate the Reports tab | Not sent off-device beyond the original analysis call | chrome.storage.local |
We do not collect:
- Browsing history or visited URLs (other than the specific URL you ask us to scan)
- Page content, form data, or keystrokes
- Selected text (the Extension supports image and URL scanning only)
- IP-level geolocation beyond standard server access logs
- Personal identifiers beyond what you provide to your ZONN.ai account
3. Where data is sent
All network requests go to zonn.ai and its subdomains only. The Extension's host_permissions in the manifest enforce this scope at the browser level.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or error-tracking services inside the Extension.
4. How long we keep data
- Server-side: analyses you submit are retained according to the account-level retention configured on zonn.ai. See the main privacy policy for details.
- Locally on your device: up to 50 recent analyses cached in
chrome.storage.local. You can clear the entire local history at any time from the Extension's Reports tab or Options page.
5. Your controls
- Sign out: disconnects the Extension from your ZONN.ai account and clears the session.
- Clear history: removes the cached analysis records from your device. Records on the ZONN.ai server side are managed from your account on zonn.ai.
- Uninstall: removes the Extension and all of its
chrome.storagedata from your browser.
6. Security
- The Extension communicates only over HTTPS.
- The Extension uses Manifest V3 with the minimum permissions needed to function. No remote code is loaded; all logic ships inside the Extension package.
- Authentication is performed against zonn.ai using the same session you'd use on the website.
7. Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly process data from children under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the Extension evolves. The current version will always be available at this URL. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above and in the Extension's in-store changelog.
